Penny Lane was founded in 1969 to care for children nobody wanted. Here at Penny Lane, children are provided with an array of therapeutic services in a nurturing and highly structured setting. Penny Lane ensures each child we serve has an opportunity to develop skills and confidence with the goal of becoming productive and successful citizens in the community.
Penny Lane operates 10 group homes for adolescent girls and boys. These Penny Lane residents attend our on-site LAUSD special education school. Our school curriculum allows residents to focus on academic and behavioral issues and to graduate and go on to college and/or vocational training. Penny Lane’s outpatient mental health clinics offer therapy for children and their families at no cost. Foster care and adoption services place children in rigorously trained, nurturing and loving Penny Lane Foster homes throughout Los Angeles County. Penny Lane Transitional Housing Program offers supportive apartment living for “emancipated” foster youth who would otherwise be homeless. Penny Lane Transitional Housing residents must work and attend school in order to be eligible for the program and benefit from counseling, job skills training and other services.
